Iranian Woman Entrepreneur Wins IDB Award

Navideshahed: An Iranian woman entrepreneur and a Bangladeshi counterpart jointly won Islamic Development Bank (IDB) award for promoting women entrepreneurship.

Seyedeh Fatimah Moghimi, founder and managing director of Sadidbar, an international shipping transportation company in Iran will receive a $ 25,000 award, shield and a certificate from IDB chairman of IDB board of governors in a ceremony which is to be held in April this year, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

IDB Group President, Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali said that the prize was meant to encourage women to contribute to the social and economic development of their societies, specially, in combating poverty.

Mrs. Selima Ahmad, founder and president of the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) in Bangladesh said that one of the key tools of her business initiative for women was to build capacity of each entrepreneur by training, business counseling and study tours and also think to do to develop her product and facilitate her with market access.

Since the inception in 2006 by IDB, the prize has been awarded 22 women businesses and organizations over 17 countries.

This year the ceremony is to be held in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
